There
are certain cheap "watch winders" on the market that simply does nothing but "spin" your watches
continuously in a non-stop manner. Be aware that such so-called "watch winders" would eventually
cause your watch to lose its accuracy over a period of time; and unnecessary stress the moving parts of your valuable watch over times.
A quality watch winder should not continuously "spin" your watch, it should turn in the appropriate direction
in a set direction then rest for a period of time, and repeat the turn-and-rest cycle over the
day (either turn clockwise, counter-clockwise, or alternate direction. Depends on the specification of your watch
). For example, all Rolex watches are best to be wound up in an alternate direction (that is, turn clockwise, then counter-clockwise, then rest for a period of time,
and repeat the cycle).
Some watch brands require only clockwise turning motion, while others require counter-clockwise turning motion. Thus, the best watch winder should
be able to turn both clockwise and counterclockwise, with an internal electronic program to allow it to rest for a short period of time, then repeat the turning again. And this cycle should be automatically
repeat itself by means of an internal well designed electronic program. Any kind of external timer
device
simply cannot achieve this result. |
